Local Area Attractions

Southern Mountain Resorts is uniquely located with easy access to many other local attractions. Nearby Cloudland Canyon Park provides spectacular panoramic views spanning both sides of a deep gorge and houses a cascading waterfall with a 135 foot vertical drop.

Rock City, in Lookout Mountain was ranked by Child's Magazine as the "one attraction you should not miss." The Tennessee Aquarium is located within a half-hour ride in Chattanooga and will provide your children the opportunity to come face-to-face with river otters, giant turtles, sharks and stingrays.

If you want to skip the hassle of preparing meals there is a bevy of restaurants located nearby. Traditional Southern food is the standard fare at Lazy Bones BBQ and the Canyon Grill. International flavors can be sampled at Rafael's Italian Restaurant, Lalito's and the Asian Garden.

And if shopping is your bag head to the Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga. With over 200 stores it is the largest shopping mall in Tennessee.
